ABOUT US

A Vida no Cerrado is a youth-led, non-profit organization that educates and mobilises youth people to lead solutions for the Brazilian Cerrado conservation. The movement emerged in 2023 from the concern of graduation students with the dismantling of environmental protection policies in Brazil and the accelerated degradation of the Cerrado biome. Through socio-environmental education and youth mobilization, our mission is to help build a society that protects and values ​​the Cerrado.

INSTITUTIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. Promotion of socio-environmental education actions, scientific communication and awareness of the ecological importance of the Cerrado for Brazil and the world;

  2. Engagement and articulation of Brazilian youth in favor of conservation of Cerrado's biodiversity, promoting the political participation of youth in decision-making processes;

  3. Carrying out Climate Advocacy actions, proposing and monitoring environmental agendas on the Cerrado with leaders, decision makers and political figures;

  4. Occupying multiple spaces and establishing permanent dialogues with different groups, seeking to build a network in defense of the conservation of the Cerrado; 

  5. Training of educators, undergraduation students, political figures and other interested parties, collaborating for a vision of development aimed at preserving the Cerrado and sustainable systems of land use and management;

  6. Raising, administering and disbursing funds for activities to conserve the natural environment, including fauna, flora, landscape, water, soil, air and other natural resources, with particular emphasis on maintaining essential ecological processes and life support systems, in preserving biodiversity and ensuring that the use of species or ecosystems is sustainable;

  7. Promotion of environmental conservation activities and projects, including research and exchange of researchers, specialists, students and others, especially in less developed areas;

  8. Public and non-partisan engagement in the defense of causes and campaigns linked to its institutional mission, with an active contribution to the formulation of public policies, within the scope of the Legislative and Executive Powers of the Union, states, Federal District and municipalities;

  9. Transparency and disclosure of its results and methodologies of programs and projects, as well as accountability for activities of public and social interest, observed when contractually established secrecy is required.
